Clean Investment Monitor: Q1 2024 Report

Clean energy and transportation investments in the US reached a record $71 billion in Q1 2024, marking a 40% increase from Q1 2023. This sustained growth trend, starting in Q1 2021, highlights the sector's rising influence, with clean investments now accounting for 5.1% of total US private investment, up from 3.7% last year.

Key Highlights:

• Manufacturing clean energy and transportation technology led the growth with a 28% increase quarter-on-quarter.
• Investments in emerging climate technologies (ECT) surged 37% from Q4 2023, showing a five-fold increase from Q1 2023.
• Retail investment saw a slight decline of 3% quarter-on-quarter but rose 12% compared to Q1 2023, driven by strong plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales.
