When a major brewing company announced plans to move to a renovated industrial building in South End last week, it attracted most of the buzz. But Southern Tier and Victory’s beers aren’t the only companies expanding at the Bowers development at Yancey and Old Pineville Roads. SentryOne, a technology firm, plans to increase its staff by nearly 50 percent when it moves from Huntersville to the facility in early 2018. “SentryOne is known for creative engineering and unrivaled customer service, which has established us as a destination employer and helped our team grow from 50 to 90 people over the last two years,” said SentryOne CEO Greg Gonzalez, in a statement. “Our new space is an investment in our people, and it will increase the value SentryOne delivers to our clients, partners and community.” The company has leased 31,300 square feet, and it plans to hire about 40 more employees. That will bring its total headcount to about 130. The move from the Northpointe Executive Park will help SentryOne attract and retain talented workers, he said. The new space, designed by Gensler, is adjacent to the planned new brewery and blocks from popular spots such as Olde Mecklenburg Brewery and Queen Park Social, as well as near the Blue Line light rail. The building will include 19-foot ceilings, a rooftop deck with a skyline view, a gym and a pub.
