This Oculus Rift Discount Brings Virtual Reality Into the Real WorldoculusSharesharetweetcommentemailAuthor: Wired StaffWired Staffgear10.17.1704:35 pmThis Oculus Rift Discount Brings Virtual Reality Into the Real WorldoculusThere's nothing quite as bizarre—or as thrilling—as walking around your living room completely absorbed in a Holodeck-like virtual reality game. Headsets like the Oculus Rift + Touch and HTC Vive blind and deafen you to the real world in favor of a digital land where you can use your own body to look around and interact with objects. When they debuted in 2016, the Rift (with Touch controllers) and Vive cost $700 to $800 each, on top of the cost of a new PC, which was often needed to run the VR headsets. The price of admission has slowly dropped, and you can now buy one for the same price as a new gaming console. The Oculus Rift + Touch controllers were permanently discounted to $399 last week, putting them at a far more attractive price for the holidays. You can find the discounted Oculus Rift + Touch bundle on Microsoft's store and on Amazon. If your PC isn't up to the task, this Rift-ready Dell XPS 8910 is on sale for $999 (list price: $1,249). You can try out the Rift at local Microsoft stores, if one is near you. The list of entertaining Rift games is far from endless, but there are some fun titles to try, including Rez Infinite and Lone Echo. VRgamecritic has a comprehensive list of highly-rated titles to try. For those holding out for an HTC Vive, the Microsoft store has a decent deal. It has an HTC Vive bundle for $599, which includes a free copy of Fallout 4 VR. #virtual reality#Oculus#Deals#HTCMost PopularsecurityGoogle's 'Advanced Protection' Locks Down Accounts Like Never BeforeAuthor: Andy GreenbergAndy GreenbergcultureNew 'Black Panther' Trailer Promises Marvel's Most Breathtaking Movie YetAuthor: Angela WatercutterAngela WatercuttersecurityKRACK Vulnerability Makes Wi-Fi Hacking Possible, Leaving Millions of Devices ExposedAuthor: Lily Hay NewmanLily Hay NewmanMore StoriesView CommentsSponsored StoriesPowered By OutbrainJeffrey Van CampReview: Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017)Arielle PardesTurn Your $20s Into Tubmans With This DIY 3-D Printed StampWired StaffNeed an Upgrade?
