In May 2019, venture capital investments in real estate tech companies soared with over $1 billion invested in the industry across 30 companies. The historic round was the third consecutive billion dollar month, leading to a surge in early stage and late stage venture activity. Median funding amounts continue to climb, especially for companies in the Americas. Month-to-month, median funding amounts continued their climb with 99 percent growth.
Year-to-year, venture activity in real estate tech increased by 11 percent, with a 319 percent gain in median funding amount, despite the near 70 percent drop off in total companies funded. Mega rounds, continue to be en vogue for late-stage investors, however corporate venture capital has been an emerging trend to watch for the remainder of 2019.
