How to make REBNY's listing syndication service work for you
Last week, The New York Times announced they will provide readers with residential real estate listings from the Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) Residential Listing Service (RLS) through Syndication. The deal was widely reported as a move that makes sense for the Times, for REBNY members, and for consumers alike. This news comes on the heels of similar recent agreements with Realtor.com, Home.com and other sites that will provide RLS data to a growing network of public real estate listing sites. It’s hard to believe that the new Syndication service was launched just over a month ago, a result of over two years of development by committed real estate and technology professionals. It empowers residential brokers and agents to improve and grow their businesses by centralizing listing data through a single feed. Opting into Syndication saves time by helping real estate professionals more efficiently serve their clients, while enabling them to reach thousands of more potential buyers and renters, and providing consumers with the most accurate and up-to-date listings available. By streamlining the simultaneous sharing of listings, Syndication enhances listing visibility, ensures data accuracy, provides participating brokers and agents with one point of contact (REBNY) as the support hub for centralized issue resolution, and it’s free for RLS participants. Residential brokerage firms that have opted into RLS Syndication are already benefitting from the efficiency and opportunities it provides. More than 16,000 active listings are being syndicated by nearly 12,000 agents. Now, here’s where you come in. Firms need to manually opt into Syndication for their listings to appear on our partners’ websites. This process only takes a few minutes to implement, but is a crucial step to ensuring that you’re officially in. Even if you’re already a REBNY member/RLS participant, you must opt-in to join and then select the websites you want your listings to appear on. As Syndication improves the way that listing data is shared in New York City, you don’t want to be left behind. The websites participating in our Syndication direct network are among the top players in the industry and include Realtor.com, RentHop, Homes.com, Apartable, LeaseBreak, LeaseHop, CampusCribz, CompIt, and YourNeighborhood, among others. This network continues to grow each day and momentum continues to build as news spreads of our groundbreaking partnership with the New York Times Real Estate section, their decision to stop charging brokerage firms to list on their website, and instead accept exclusive residential listings directly from the RLS through Syndication. If you haven’t opted into RLS Syndication yet, you’re missing out. Syndication represents a step forward for the industry as we are committed to being the single trusted point for real estate information in New York City.
