Let me quickly get you up to speed. Following the success of the #REBNYTech Hackathon, those brilliant people namely Sandy Jacolow CIO of Silverstein Properties and Ryan Baxter of REBNY along with myself decided that there was a need for a Virtual and GLOBAL #PropTech Hackathon. After months of planning and hours of calls and emails (with the gracious and incredible Sarah Harano, Silverstein Properties) we are now launching the PROPTECH CHALLENGE (PTC) https://www.proptechchallenge.com The inaugural REBNY Tech Hackathon was launched bringing together some of the brightest minds in real estate and technology. Building upon the original hackathon’s success we will leverage the wealth of technology talent in New York City and beyond and are aiming to be the world’s leading virtual real estate hackathon series. As we cultivate partnerships around the world, the series will remove geographical boundaries and time constraints to drive innovation focusing on the needs of New York City’s real estate market. Participants will compete for $200,000 in cash prizes across eight challenge categories including Operations and maintenance, Brokerage, AEC & development, IoT, Blockchain, GeoSpatial, Community and AI. The competition will culminate with two LIVE Demo Day events. These live events will be held in New York City and designed to showcase the top three finalists in each challenge category. Leading up to our Demo Day events, each team will receive a three-month window to submit a video presentation and written presentation demonstrating their solution, concepts, and business plan. The top three finalists from each challenge category will be selected, ultimately presenting a five-minute live demonstration of their solution at the Live Demo Day, followed by a Q&A session. A nine-member judging panel comprised of REBNY members, industry experts, and sponsors will review all submissions to determine the finalists in each category. PropTech Challenge has aligned itself with DevPost, the on-line hackathon leader since 2009. Utilizing their expertise and services we will easily provide a world-class submission process, along with the ability to tap into their vast developer base. Additionally, our series will feature access to mentors from a broad spectrum of strategic and functional areas.
